Join VS workers and unionists to launch the Socialist Workers' Caucus!
The Socialist Workers Caucus is an opportunity to build the sort of radical politics we need to revive our union movement. Come to the launch event on Saturday 30 August to meet fellow union radicals, swap ideas and strategies, and join up with others in your industry!
Our project is to help build unions that can strike to win the decent wages, conditions, and services that working class people deserve – as well as to take action on Palestine, climate, and against the rise of the far right. This sort of class struggle unionism needs class struggle politics. Historically, socialists have contributed a lot to the trade union movement in this country. In the Socialist Workers Caucus we’re determined to rebuild that sort of radical political current, to tackle the urgent problems facing us today.
So bring your friends, workmates, comrades and union colleagues to the official public launch of this exciting new initiative.
Featured speakers
Louisa Bassini: ASU rank and file member who has helped lead a walk-out in support of Palestine, long-time socialist and housing activist.
Madi Roof: Madi is a socialist who cut her teeth organising call centre workers back in 2018. Since then, she has been active in Unionists for Palestine and was part of launching the Socialist Workers Caucus, which aims to mobilise Victorian Socialist members in rank-and-file union work and arm them with the skills to bring socialist politics back into their workplaces.
Jerome Small: Jerome has been a socialist and unionist since the 1980s, when he stood on Builders Labourers’ Federation picket lines and was part of union pickets against the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Over the past decade he’s helped workers to organise, strike and build left-wing politics in factories, warehouses, rail, hospo, retail and beyond.
