Empty Homes Crimescene Campaign - Footscray

Special Event

Join Victorian Socialists West in Footscray at 1pm on Saturday, 14 December, at Borderlands Cooperative (30A Pickett St, Footscray) to launch the Empty Homes Crimescene Campaign in the West.

What to expect

In the midst of a housing crisis, every empty home is a crimescene. That’s why Victorian Socialist federal senate candidate, Jordan van den Lamb (aka. purplepingers), launched the ‘Empty Homes Crimescene’ campaign. First launched in Brunswick recently, the campaign involves Victorian Socialists volunteers visiting empty homes and putting up A3-sized stickers identifying them as a ‘housing crisis crime scene’ and 'empty home'.

Like so many other areas, Footscray is suffering an acute housing crisis, with one in five dwellings sitting empty as of the last census. Join Victorian Socialists West, along with former Maribrynong councillor Jorge Jorquera, to kick off this exciting campaign in the West. As Jordan says, “We can’t expect our parliament of landlords to solve this for us. The majority of them benefit from the current system. People need to take matters into their own hands.”

We will be meeting at 1pm at Borderlands Cooperative (30A Pickett St, Footscray).
