Join us for the first local launch of our 2024 council election campaign!
Victorian Socialists is planning a huge campaign for this October's local council elections. We'll be running candidates across as many council areas as possible, and believe we're in with a strong chance of electing more socialist councillors in a number of areas.
The main speaker at this event will be Louisa Bassini, who will be one of our lead candidates in the Merri-bek council area.
Louisa is a community lawyer, trade unionist, and housing advocate. She is one of the lawyers leading a class action by public housing tenants against the destruction of their homes by Victoria's Labor state government.
She was one of the rank and file trade unionists who organised a recent walkout by hundreds of social and community sector workers demanding their employers make public statements against Israel's genocide in Gaza.
The meeting will also be a chance to hear from VS campaign coordinators about how you can get involved and fight for councils that stand up for communities, and put people before profit at a local level.
