Senate
Jordan van den Lamb (purplepingers)

Hi, I'm Jordan.
I’ve fought to fix Australia’s broken housing system through my website shitrentals.org and online campaigning as ‘purplepingers’. I’m standing as a senate candidate with Victorian Socialists to take that fight to parliament.
Australia today is more unequal than ever. Profiteering by landlords, banks, supermarkets and other big corporations is driving a devastating cost-of-living crisis. A super-rich minority is enjoying huge wealth gains. Meanwhile, many are struggling just to get by.
Major party politicians won’t change this. They take home $200,000 plus salaries. They benefit from and support the current system. They pass tax cuts for billionaires and call for ‘wage constraint’ from workers. They pander to racist and transphobic bigots like Donald Trump.
It doesn’t have to be like this. The claim we can’t afford secure, decent and affordable housing, a genuine climate transition, or properly funded schools, hospitals, and public transport is a lie. We could cut politicians’ inflated salaries, ditch the $300 billion plus AUKUS deal and cut the tens of billions in subsidies for fossil fuel companies and property investors for a start.
We’ve seen how Labor and the Liberals treat working-class people, and there’s no hope in waiting for them to change. Real change comes from the bottom up. Together, we can take power out of the hands of the super-rich and start to build a society that works for everyone.
